This is a great free downloadable piece of software. Ideal for younger children (but equally suitable for older students when modeling ideas). I especially like the the grid could correlate with an actual sheet of grid paper. You can build you models by selecting piece and then use building guide player to watch a video clip of your model being made. It does more... best thing is to download and have a go. lego site
